To be nationally and internationally recognized as the foremost center in Indonesia actively involved in enhancing good governance and regional development, in order to support the regional autonomy through the provision of high quality technical and academical assistance to the local and regional governments.
In order to achieve this mission, the initial focus and objectives of the Institute are as follows:
To increase the capacity of communities within targeted regencies to realize and be able to practice good governance.
To increase the ability of community members to optimize their productive capacity in order to implement community-based economic empowerment.
To work with the government of regencies officials in designing, summarizing, and translating the various legal and regulatory instruments required.
To provide internationally recognized academic studies and research leading to the granting of higher degrees in good governance and regional development and planning.
To conduct policy studies related to the theories and practices of good governance and its related disciplines for prospective future leaders of Indonesia.
To study areas which are relevant and potential to the specific needs of the regions for social, cultural, and economical development.
To conduct trainings and workshops on the concepts and practices of good governance for public servants, politicians, armed forces personnel, private citizens, and the business communities.
To conduct trainings for community facilitators with enhancement in the capability to facilitate the communities on the area of good governance concepts and practices, vision establishment, and democratization.
